Dissed By History is a blog for history nerds that’s all about some of the most influential, but forgotten, people throughout American history. As a high school student who made it to the state level of National History Day, but was unable to compete due to COVID-19, I wanted to find a way to share the story of Lieutenant Colonel John Laurens (the man I researched for my NHD project), and was inspired to tell the stories of other inspirational people who have become forgotten. I soon realized that writing a blog was the perfect way to share these stories.
Like John Laurens, so many of America’s most influential people aren’t taught about or remembered. Even though one little blog won’t do much to change that, I hope that through my research, I’ll be able to learn more about America’s forgotten history and share some of those stories with others. I’ll be updating this blog as often as I can and plan to research and write about one new person at least every two weeks.
I hope you enjoy!
